Going on 10 years and still full capacity

Posted by Bruce on 27th Nov 2021

I've had 8 of these AA batteries since 2011/2012. I only shoot a few events a year with a camera flash, so my use is limited. However, this means these batteries had to stand the test of aging as well as top performance when using a high-drain 580EX flash. I've kept them charged/refreshed at least twice a year with the CH-9000 charger, and they still have max capacity even 10 years later. I'll always buy these batteries as long as the quality stays, because they're actually the best. The price up front actually saves a lot of money, and gives top performance the entire life of the battery. A+.

    Great batteries!

Posted by G. Baker on 3rd Jan 2019

Great batteries!!!! I have about 7 sets of 4 of different variations of these batteries. Some Low Self-Discharge some not. I learned of this brand about 10 years ago and I have been using them ever since. They are GREAT for my external flash for a semi-pro canon camera. They are also great in a recently acquired Whistler TRX-1 Scanner. These batteries are great in everything.

I would also recommend a good external charger for these. Do your research and buy what you need. But, charging in device, or the plug in and forget chargers are usually crap. Buy a good La Crosse or Maha charger to accompany these and you will get a lot of use from them.

    High Capacity AA battery

Posted by PScher on 3rd Jan 2019

These are great AA rechargeable batteries. Tested the capacity by draining the battery with a 1.2 volt incandescent bulb @ 250 mA and recharging the battery with a XTAR VC4 charger @ 1A. The battery tested full at 2572 mAh. This was very close to the 2600 maximum mAh rating.

After two months of unused storage, I removed two of the batteries for testing. I recharged both as above and the batteries charged at 411 and 412 mAh. This is about a 16% loss. This amount of drain should only happen after one year. Lowering my rating by one star.

A little pricey, but a great option if optimal voltage is important

    Posted by StormJH1 on 3rd Jan 2019

There's a lot of more-affordable 9V rechargable batteries than this, but I purchased the PowerEx 9.6V for a very specific purpose: to use with guitar effects pedals. Inconsistencies in voltage and actual power outputs less than 9V can cause performance issues with electronic audio gear. I had to research this a bit, but most of the "9 volt" rechargeables on the markert actually put out a maximum of 8.4V. If it drops any lower than that, it would very likely cause a problem with how I am using them. The PowerEx is admittedly a little expense to pay for a single battery, but it's working great, seems to have a long battery life, and is both convenient and ecologically superior to going through piles of disposable 9V's.

    High capacity, low self discharge

    Posted by D.H. on 3rd Jan 2019

I love the powerex brand for high-quality rechargeable batteries with what is usually the highest available capacity in their category, the least amount of self discharge.
